Every facility page has an "Alert me on lockdowns" checkbox. Turn it on and we'll email you if that facility's status changes.
Where that information actually comes from
Here's something important to understand: the Bureau of Prisons does not publish a live lockdown feed. There's no official source we can pull from automatically. So this feature works differently than you might expect:
- Any member can submit a status report on a facility -- Lockdown, Visits Suspended, or Back to Normal -- with an optional note about what they heard and from where.
- That report does not go live automatically. It sits in a queue until a moderator confirms it's credible.
- Only once confirmed does the facility's badge update -- and only then do subscribers get emailed.
This means the information here is only as good as what people are actually seeing and reporting, filtered through moderator judgment -- not an official BOP announcement. Always call the facility directly to confirm before making travel plans or anything time-sensitive. Think of this as "what other families are hearing," not a guarantee.
To report a status yourself, look for "Report a status update" on the facility's page (you'll need a verified email to submit one).
