📌 Finding What You Need: Search, Facilities & Guides

admin 18 hours, 57 minutes ago

Three ways to find things here, depending on what you already know.

The search bar

Top of every page (in the mobile menu on phones) is a search box. Type a topic, a facility name, or a BOP code and it searches forum threads, facilities, and guides all at once, from anywhere on the site.

Browsing facilities

The Facilities page lists all 155 federal facilities alphabetically. Start typing in the search box there and the list filters instantly, right on the page -- no waiting for a new page to load. You can also filter by state or facility type using the dropdowns.

Each facility's own page has its address, phone number, the exact mailing address format the BOP uses (so mail doesn't get bounced back), and a link straight to that facility's discussion board.

Browsing guides

The Guides page groups everything by topic -- Communication, Money on the Books, Packages & Mail, Legal Process, and Emotional Support & Family Well-Being. These are staff-curated, not open discussion, so you can trust what's in them without wading through opinions -- and every guide links to a real discussion thread if you want to ask about it.
